Wairau River Pinot Gris 2014 makes a delicious change from Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc! Tropical fruit adorns this dry and snappy New Zealand white.
Who knew? Apparently Marlborough is not wall-to-wall Sauvignon Blanc. In fact Pinot Gris is definitely a big deal in new Zealand these days, with very good reason. Wairau River’s Pinot Gris offers a very welcome mouthfilling richness not always present in the ubiquitous Sauvignons. There is a delightful peachy-melony fatness underneath the exotic tropical aromas and a satisfyingly dry finish that invites another sip… or some simple, buttery pan-fried fish.
