Gnarly Dudes Shiraz bottle

Anthony Gismondi's guest note: Lots of baby fat here with sweet plummy, blackcurrant/blueberry fruit aromas and flavours with a touch of cola. Not near as weighty as the Angel’s Share showing some minty blue/black fruit in the finish with some acidity poking through the back end. A fun, ready-to-drink style that will have wide appeal. Serve now with grilled lamb chops.

The ‘Two Hands’ are veteran winemakers Michael Twelvetree and Richard Mintz, dedicated to making the best possible Australian Shiraz from old vines. The ‘Gnarly Dudes’ are the ancient Barossa vines that produce the very limited quantities of this extraordinary wine. In epic Aussie fashion it is full of blackberries, cherries and plums laced with lashings of black pepper and dark chocolate. This is a full-on ‘take no prisoners’ style, gutsy and tannic: it should be tried with grilled lamb or game.
