Near Oliver, BC, the family-run Stoneboat Winery is making wines that fully express the rocky soil of their vineyard site. On example: Their Pinot Noir.
Pinot Noir may be the heartbreak grape but it loves Stoneboat’s calcareous soils and drastic night/day temperature shifts. Red fruit and earthy spice aromas on the nose shift to a palate of green tea, currant and violet, with silky tannins leading to a smooth finish. Its balanced acidity and structure make it a great addition to the cellar for aging.
