Okanagan Crush Pad, home to Narrative and Haywire wines, is at the vanguard of the region’s winemaking movement, producing bottles such as Narrative Ancient Method.
Anthony Gismondi's guest note:
We love that the Okanagan Crush Pad Narrative sparkler is made in the ancient ways or, what the French call the méthode ancestral. In this case, the Chardonnay never leaves the bottle after a solo fermentation nor is it disgorged, so the lees are kept in the bottle (no fining or filtering). The sparkle is a little pressurized which seems appropriate given the freshness, citrus and toast on the nose. The palate is creamy and welcoming, the flavours juicy and rustic, but all in an eminently drinkable style. One-of-a-kind for your wine geek friends.
Made following a little-used technique, Narrative Ancient Method is a sparkling Chardonnay expression of Okanagan terroir. Bottled during fermentation without any form of filtering, fining or stabilizing, it showcases some of the more delicate features of this wine. Because of the minimalist techniques used, it truly captures a time, a place, and a grape. its crisp citrus palate is layered with toasty, creamy texture, peach and apple flavours, and finishes bone dry with a pillowy mousse.
