This great wine has a great story. Okanagan Crush Pad Winery is an inspired leader in B.C. Committed to less-is-more wines that let the vineyard speak eloquently, they farm as naturally as possible, use all wild ferments, have a winery full of concrete tanks of many shapes and sizes, and a crack team devoted to making effortless, authentic wines. OCP recruited world famous oenologist (and friends) Alberto Antonini and terroir specialist Dr. Pedro Parra to work with head winemaker Matt Dumayne. Now enter Sally Campa. Sally was my student when she earned her Sommelier stripes many years ago, and today she’s the Canadian Regional Manager of Vino Volo. Located in 33 airports across North America, Vino Volo allows us to drink great wine before and after we endure a flight. Sally commissioned this inky, fragrant and juicy Cabernet Franc for YVR. Lithe and on the (Loire-like) leafy side, it’s alive with blackcurrant and herbal flavours. Try it with local charcuterie and a crusty loaf, and give the wine a very slight chill.
