Okanagan Crush pad used grapes from Switchback Vineyard to make Pinot Gris 2014. Pairs with shellfish, pulled pork or local cheese.
From Okanagan Crush Pad’s home vineyard in Summerland, the Haywire Switchback Pinot Gris was sourced in five separate lots in order to produce a layered, sophisticated wine. Cultivated (and certified) organically, Switchback Vineyard is alive with biological life, with row interplantings of beneficial flowers and nitrogenous plants, and soils nourished by a 'worm farm'. Baby Doll sheep and chickens roam the vineyard, and the hum of insects and bird life is ever-present. The grapes from this special vineyard are fermented with ambient native yeast in Crush Pad’s small concrete eggs. This wild-fermented single vineyard Pinot Gris balances minerality with fruit, a creamy mouthfeel, and incredible complexity. The generous 2014 vintage confers extra fruit depth for grilled prawns, pulled pork, or local bloomy rind cheese.
