Nobilo is one of Marlborough’s prestige wine estates, and the Icon 2015 is a refined and deeply flavoured flagship Sauvignon Blanc. Pair with artisan goat’s cheese or lemony grilled fish.
Ever heard of the famous ex-professional New Zealand golfer Frank Nobilo? He’s part of the family that established Nobilo in the mid-1930s in a special corner of Marlborough, a region that has become synonymous with Sauvignon Blanc worldwide. The grape Sauvignon Blanc is native to France’s Loire Valley, but New Zealand versions dazzled the wine world in the mid 1980s, and have not stopped. Icon is the flagship wine from this pioneering estate, and it’s a very serious, structured thoroughbred. You’ll find classic pungent herbs and grapefruit aromas and flavours, joined by tropical guava, stone fruit and a long streamlined finish. Intensely flavoured and succulent, try with citrusy grilled fish, artisan goat’s cheese, or simply savour a crisp, reviving glass.
