Matua Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough 2015 is a fresh, zesty, fruit-driven dry white for a crisp aperitif or steamed mussels.
This vibrant, herbaceous wine from Marlborough is classic New Zealand ‘savvy’, with tangy aromas and flavours of freshly snipped herbs and guava. It’s all about freshness, with Granny Smith apple crispness on the palate, and a hint of tropical fruit richness. Sauvignon Blanc is a grape from France’s Loire Valley, and was planted first in cool-climate Marlborough over 40 years ago. Matua has been making wine since the 1970s, so they have had plenty of time to perfect their pure and appealing style. A zesty aperitif wine, but also great with shellfish like steamed mussels, or salad with grapes, goat’s cheese nuggets and walnuts. Hint: make the vinaigrette with the wine instead of vinegar for a seamless match.
