Josef Chromy Pinot Noir 2015 is from ultra-cool and ultra-hip Tasmania. Juicy cherry fruit, lip-smacking acidity, silky texture are the highlights of this must-try Pinot.
Cool climate, ocean-influenced Tasmania is as trendy as it gets in the wine world these days. Great Pinot Noir is the main reason why, and none is more celebrated than Josef Chromy, considered by many international experts to be a quintessential example of New World Pinot. The wine comes from the Tamar Valley near Launceston at the northern end of the island, where 76 year old Josef Chromy established the winery in 2007. The wine has beautiful aromas and flavours of roses and ripe cherries, but its prime attribute is its amazingly silky texture - that magical thing that can happen in Pinot Noir, but sadly so often does not! Really needs some roast or braised beef to fully appreciated, but it would be irresistible on its own.
