A small, family-run estate winery on the Naramata Bench, Howling Bluff is the project of Luke Smith and his son Daniel. Since their first vintage in 2006, they have pursued excellence with hand-made wines. Exclusively using grapes from their Summa Quies Vineyard, they take a zero compromise approach to cultivation. Nearby, airflow from Three Mile Creek prevents frost from forming during cold Naramata nights. The deep clay soil and gently rolling terrain doesn’t make for easy farming, but painstaking cultivation have given the Smiths a deep and intimate connection to the land. They take a “get your hands dirty” approach to cultivation, resulting in exceptional, terroir-driven wines.
