Hardys Wines’ history starts some 160 years ago, after the winery’s founder, Thomas Hardy, arrived in Australia to work with the region’s first winemaker, John Reynell. Twenty years later, Thomas Hardy purchased his first vineyard and winery. Generations of Hardys followed the path of excellence, including Eileen Hardy, who became the grand matriarch of the Hardys Wines dynasty. Bill Hardy is the fifth generation to helm the winery, and he is into his 42nd year of management. Chief winemaker Paul Lapsley continues to blend regional varieties to create the best wine, which was a technique first used by Thomas Hardy. Lapsley, much like the Hardys, pushes the boundaries of winemaking while ensuring the highest quality wine production.
