Emiliana Coyam 2012 from the Colchagua Valley in Chile is a celebrated, full-bodied Syrah blend.
Simply put, this is one of the world’s most significant wines. It’s a six-grape blend, with Syrah leading the flavour charge, grown in the heart of Chile’s elite Colchagua Valley. The vineyards are farmed biodynamically (think organic, but supercharged) and are alive with birds, bees, flowers and healthy soil. Coyam is made by Emiliana, one of Chile’s most visionary wineries, where Alvaro Palacio - a global biodynamics legend - guides the wine from grapes to barrel and bottle. This potent wine combines polished tannins and superb freshness, long savoury finish and powerful terroir expression. The fact that it is just $30 is truly wonderful - as it over-delivers massively - and will repay up to a decade of ageing. Enjoy it with casual grilled sausages, or dress up with a prime cut.
