The old world, low intervention, natural winemaking method is the Emandare Vineyard way. Mike and Robin Nierychlo took a chance and followed their dreams, moving to Vancouver Island’s North Cowichan Valley. The 8.5-acre property overlooking Somenos Lake presented an opportunity that was too good to pass up. Just over two years later, the Nierychlos have produced an impressive range of wines, proving that their painstaking pruning, tying, cutting, and prepping efforts on a neglected vineyard have paid off. Their selection includes Siegerrebe Gewurztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, and Maréchal Foch, with the highly anticipated Pinot Noir on the horizon. Capturing a glimpse of the Cowichan Valley is a lofty goal for anyone, but the Nierychlos have given wine lovers something more: a keepsake to savour.
