Don Juan del Águila Gaznata 2015 has made waves around the wine world. A juicy, silky, stony Garnacha from central Spain, it’s a sensational value.
Gaznata has become an international sensation. Made by a co-op that was founded in 1956, it’s a celebration of Garnacha (a Spanish grape that is known as Grenache in France) from old vineyards, planted in rocky, impoverished granitic soils at serious altitudes. This forward thinking co-op is a fertile ground for trading ideas and using old and new methods, like concrete. Fragrant aromas join the cheerful, juicy raspberry flavours, ending on silk and stones. It’s light-bodied, but very energetic and flavourful. Try it in a large, chilled glass, or with some Spanish cured ham and pizza bianca.
