Domaine Henri Boillot - Meursault

2012 is a vintage of stunning quality, but stingy quantity. Henri Boillot’s crop was half the normal amount in this vintage, making the wines not only rare, but fabulously concentrated, and his perfectionist approach is on full display in this village Meursault. The appellation of Meursault is admired for rich, extravagant Burgundies, with bracing acidity and opulent fruit. Canary gold in colour, scents of blossoms, roasted nuts and fine spice, with butter, honey and citrus flavours layering a creamy palate. Youthful still, with a fine mineral framework, decant and let breath for 30 minutes to best allow flavours and aromas to unfurl. Dinner wine, of course, for salmon Wellington, roast veal or aged cheese.
