This little estate makes exceedingly pure-fruited, perfumed and effortless wines. Domaine Arlaud is also one of a growing number of domaines in Burgundy who farm following exacting biodynamic methods. Okapi is the name of one of the two resolute plough horse who work the vineyards at Arlaud, and gifted winemaker Cyprien Arlaud adapts himself to each individual vine and wine in order to interpret soil, climate and grape as faithfully as possible. Oka is a seamless bottle of red Bourgogne, light and juicy with glorious red cherry fruit, cranberry tartness, and proper ‘sous bois’ or undergrowth funk. Tannins are fine and structured, and the oak is subtle and just so. Absolutely everything in the right place for your crispy duck breast, or rustic dinner of pâté, baguette and cornichons.
