From one of Australia’s respected estates, this mature Petite Sirah red is for a comforting weeknight dinner. Mellow and ripe, and a killer price.
De Bortoli is one of the renowned First Families who pioneered winegrowing in Australia; from humble beginnings in Riverina they have built one of Australia’s most reliable brands. Their Petite sirah (an unusual grape in Australia, and found most often in California these days) is a delightful expression of the family style. Fruity, ripe and bold, it is the kind of red wine that is even better when slightly chilled, making it perfect with roast leg of lamb. Petite Sirah is a distinct grape variety, and not just a ‘petite’ version of Syrah. Syrah is one of the parents of Petite Sirah, and the other is a virtually unheard of grape, Peloursin.
