Vittorio and Giuseppina De Bortoli escaped from war-ravaged Europe close to 90 years ago. They ventured to Australia, where they slowly began to develop table wine for their fellow immigrants. Successive generations turned table wine into premium quality ones, starting from dessert wines before moving to cool climate varieties. Now into their fourth generation, De Bortoli bring together food, wine and friends, constantly striving to produce something better. Their wine is a reflection of the unique terroir of the region, with winemaker Steve Webber ensuring the highest quality production. The problem of climate change means that De Bortoli is constantly innovating. Sustainability is not just a theoretical consideration; it is also a practical approach that the winery follows diligently.
