Chateau Tour Saint Bonnet 2010 is a high quality Cru Bourgeois red Bordeaux blend, rich with black fruit and supple tannins from the outstanding 2010 vintage
Château Tour Saint Bonnet is an ultra-traditional Cru Bourgeois (a special designation for finer wine) located at the north end of the Médoc, where 40 hectares of mature vines are planted on excellent gravelly terroir. The well-situated property has been owned by the Lafon family since 1903. The wines are fermented in conventional cement tanks, then aged for 18 months in large oak foudres, rather than the smaller barriques. The result is not only more subtle oak flavour, but wines that are rounder and approachable for highly pleasurable drinking. This wine has classic Left Bank claret lines - intense cassis, cigar box, cedar and gravelly complexity, with ultra smooth and fulsome tannins. It’s gorgeous to drink now, but will develop for another half decade. Decant to separate from some fine sediments, and do not hesitate to pour with the centrepiece of a jovial dinner; roast leg of lamb, if you want to do as the Bordelais would.
