Château Tour Saint Bonnet
Since 1903, the Lafon family has owned Château Tour Saint Bonnet, located in Saint-Christoly, just north of France’s Médoc region. Vines averaging 35 years of age are spread across 40 hectares of gravel soil land. This gravel soil, some of the best in the world, is ideal for the production of cabernet sauvignon and Merlot, each covering 45% of the land, with the remaining 10% split between petit verdot and malbec. Jacques Merlet serves as Château Tour Saint Bonnet’s winemaker, and his preference for ageing wine in oak foudres provides a stronger undercurrent of oak, as opposed to the more traditional ageing done in oak barriques. This unique approach helps set Château Tour Saint Bonnet, and its wines, apart from its regional counterparts.
