Château des Charmes Gamay Noir "Droit" 2015 from the Niagara region is a ripe and juicy Gamay.
One of Ontario’s pioneering estates, the Bosc family established Château des Charmes along the Niagara River in 1978. This ripe and juicy Gamay comes from the elite soils of St. David’s Bench, and from a special upright or ‘Droit’ clone of Burgundy’s other red grape. Cherry and plum fruit flavours are soft and rich, but uplifted with brisk acidity. Spicy and earthy, with a long finish, this truly distinctive Niagara Gamay bursts with vitality and potent fruit - not to mention lavish scores! Try with simple grilled sausages, or go fancier with seared duck breast. Gamay has become a signature grape for Ontario, and you’ll see why when you taste this thoroughbred.
