Torrontés bottle

Imagine a vineyard in Northern Argentina, planted on a high mountain plateau, drenched in blazing sun, refreshed by mountain winds, and cooled by chilled desert nights. Argentina’s native white grape — Torrontés — combines the aromatics of Gewürztraminer and the body of Viognier, which means it can be a powerful white wine. Perfumed orange blossom, lime and peach aromas and flavours have a succulence that comes from richly ripe fruit, leading into a sizzling acidity that cleanses the palate. No oak is used, the wine is bone dry, and there is an emphatic saline, mineral finish that will cut through robust dishes like baked salmon, seafood chowder, or scallop ceviche. The oldest working winery in Argentina, Colomé’s vineyards are the highest in the world (3,111 metres above sea level), but this particular one sits at 1,700 meters, considered optimal altitude for the Torrontés grape.
