Having honed his skills in Tuscany, Australia, France, and New Zealand, vintner (and former doctor) Andy Johnson founded Averill Creek in 2001. The 40-acre vineyard consists of 30-acres of planted vines, elevated between 118 and 240 metres above sea-level for optimal sun and maritime breeze exposure. Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Rosé, Marechal Foch, Pinot Noir, and Merlot form the basis of the portfolio. With a devoted following for their Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, Averill Creek have made a convincing case for the high quality of Cowichan Valley terroir.
