Antech’s Blanquette de Limoux Brut Reserve 2013 is a charming and fresh sparkling wine featuring the local Mauzac grape.
Limoux is a region in the wilds of France’s Languedoc. For centuries sparkling wine has been made here from local grapes, making it one of the earliest regions for bubbly. Blanquette de Limoux refers to a production area where three magnificent grapes (the word ‘Blanquette’ means ‘small white’ in the local Occitan language) combine to make thrilling sparkling wines. Little-know Mauzac is a high acid beauty with essence-of-apple flavour, and up to 10% of Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay grapes may join in the fun. This Brut Reserve is aged for 18 months to add toasty-nutty complexity. Charming in every way with a grilled blue cheese sandwich, or rustic pâté and baguette.
