Altos las Hormigas Malbec Clásico 2013 from Mendoza is a pure, vibrant and ripe Malbec from a superstar team. It’s a great with grilled meats or winter braises.
Altos las Hormigas Malbec Clásico is a seriously structured, mid-weight wine with a lovely balance between vibrant plummy fruit, vivid natural acidity acid, and suave tannins. No oak is used here, allowing the pure flavours of fine Malbec and the stamp of terroir to shine forth. This wine is naturally fermented and aged in concrete vats for a year of harmonizing. It’s a natural with barbeque beef, but would go great with winter stews as well. There is a special connection to British Columbia here, as winemakers Alberto Antonini and Pedro Parra are working with Okanagan Crush Pad in the Okanagan Valley.
